Born into the fifth generation of a farming family, Marianne grew up on the Oxnard plains in Southern California.  She studied Conservation Bioolgy and Ceramics at The University of Colorado at Boulder, and recieved her MFA in Studio Art from the University of Texas at Austin.  Afer teaching in Texas for almost ten years, she retunred to California, joining the faculty at California State University Channel Islands in 2017 as an Assistant Professor of Art and Head of Ceramics.  Currently, she is Chair of the Departmebt of Art and Art History and an Associaste Professor of Studio Art at CSUCI.

From 2008 — 2014, Marianne served as an Associate Professor of Art and Head of the Ceramics and Sculpture Departments at Temple College outside of Austin, TX, and served on the founding Executive Board of Directors for the Texas Sculpture Group (one of three branches of the International Sculpture Center). 

From 2012 – 2022 she served as curator and coordinator for the National Council on Ceramics Art’s (NCECA’s) international Projects Space Exhibition, hosting exhibitions annually at locations throughout the United States.  In the fall of 2017, she joined the Faculty at California State University Channel Islands (CSUCI) in Camarillo, CA as an Assistant Professor of Studio Art and Head of Ceramics.  Since returning to California, she has served her community and professional fields extensively in numerous roles, including long-held positions on the Board of Directors for the Santa Paula Art Museum, the Ventura County Potters Guild, and the Museum of Ventura County.

Her work is in numerous public and private collections across the county, and has exhibited extensively throughout her career.  Marianne has upcomong solo exhibtions in Ventura, California and Copenhagen, Denmark.  Marianne has participated in several residiency programs including Medalta, in Medicine Hat, Alberta, and OxBow in Saugatuck, MI, Penlaand School of Craft, and the Driftskontoret residency at Bruunshaab Paperfabrik in Viborg, Denmark. She lives in Ventura, CA with her daughter and husband.
